Event 21: Neurodiversity: Understanding Alternative Education Provision

90 minutes

Friday, 22 March 2024

09:30 to 11:00 (GMT)

About the event

It’s often accepted that standard models of education don’t suit every child. It’s why Ken Robinson’s first Ted talk became one of the most watched in history. Current figures show more children of all ages being listed as having poor attendance or being school refusers due to poor mental health because their needs are not being met.

So what then are so many children with SEND being failed by education? And what are the alternatives?

In this session you’ll learn:

  • What your legal rights as a parent are in terms of alternative education provision for your children, from home education to EOTAS and flexi school.

  • What the logistics of alternative provision are?

  • What the challenges of choosing this path are?

  • Why not being in state school does not equate to no future or an inability to access further or higher education.

This session is for you if you’ve ever questioned if there are alternatives and what they are.

This is a free online event via Zoom.
